Training Officially Begins Today

Lisa and I are going to begin training today. On the schedule is a 5 mile walk/run from Kendall MIT to ... wherever our feet take us. In anticipation of this, we stopped by New Balance Factory Outlet yesterday to gear up for the next few months. The Stroke Association organizers of the Marathon are in charge of our training regimen so they helpfully provide us with a pamphlet detailing the kind of running shoes and other gear we should look for.

This Marathon business is all very scientific stuff, mind you. Turns out that both of us have normal arch and pronation. For those of you who don't run/walk, this means we're not flat-footed and don't need special shoes geared for those who are.

So, since we are beginning today, I thought I'd take a picture of my new sneakers and eventually provide you with the after shot a couple hundred miles from now when I'll have to replace them.

Stay tuned as I'm going to put up some information about the history of the Marathon next.

I'm Running a Marathon in December!

That's right! I just signed up for the American Stroke Association's Train To End Stroke program.

I plan on using this blog to chronicle the weekly adventure of someone going from next-to-zero exercise, to completing a full-blown Marathon in just a few months!

So, while I gear up for the beginning of my training program, you can Help Me Save Lives by donating now!
